Lewy Body Dementia Caregiver Study
The second most common cause of dementia after Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy Body Dementia is a family affair, affecting not only the person experiencing the disease but also the loved ones who care for them. A research team at The University of Texas at Austin has received funding from the National Institutes of Health to document LBD caregivers’ daily experiences, with the goal of developing more effective interventions that address challenges at the moments when they arise. The study is currently enrolling participants.

Technology and Neurocognitive Symptoms Studies
The Technology to Assist with Neurocognitive Symptoms (TechANS) Lab at the Dell Medical School is currently enrolling participants for studies related to the role of technologies in improving the lives of people with cognitive dysfunction. These include:
- Memory Support Research Study: Participants are sought for a research study aimed at determining how best to help with day-to-day memory in people who are experiencing memory problems. One aspect of the study involves comparing whether using a paper-based or a smartphone-based calendar can help with daily memory tasks. Eligible participants will have an opportunity to learn about a memory strategy tool that may help with day-to-day tasks.
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Study: Researchers also are conducting a study to enhance cognitive function using a non-invasive brain-computer interface combined with brain stimulation. This study will require in-person visits to UT Austin and participants will be compensated for their time.
