Mission
Texas Institute on Dementia, Aging and Longevity was founded in 2018 as the Texas Aging & Longevity Consortium with a core mission of enhancing the longevity and well-being of the aging population and combating the effects of dementia. TIDAL improves the lives of older adults via research, community engagement and training the next generation of aging scholars.
Over 100 researchers at UT Austin are engaged in understanding aging from molecular processes to federal policies. They are developing interventions to prevent and treat dementia and cognitive decline, understanding neuroscience and brain function, running clinical services for older adults with dementia and other needs and examining how early-life experiences, current social engagement, and physical activity can improve the lives of older adults.
TIDAL has partnered with community-based professionals and organizations that serve, advocate for, and provide resources to older adults and their caregivers across Texas. Our institute also serves as a central hub, connecting the growing number of centers and resources at UT focused on clinical research and intervention and provision of services to older adults.

Vision
TIDAL envisions a future where prevention, early risk reduction and timely support for physical declines, mild cognitive impairment and dementia enable longer, healthier lives.
We strive to advance research and collaboration that promote healthy aging, longevity, enhanced daily functioning and quality of life and to make super-aging attainable for more people in Texas and beyond.
